During this summer (July 2014), we got to come back to the US for vacation! We went on a cruise to Alaska through the Norwegian Cruise line. This time we got to go with Trav's mom's side of the family. It was so much fun to get to know everyone better and spend time with Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. Not only that, but just take a moment to take in Alaska's beauty!!!

Our first stop was in Ketchikan. This little town is itty-bitty! The little town was charming though. We walked through the streets and looked at all the tourist stops. It was full of bright colored buildings.
The next stop was Juneau, the Capital of Alaska. This was one of my personal favorite spots. I am sad we only had half a day there. We got to see the Mendenhall Glacier. It is HUGE and so so pretty. The color of glaciers in Alaska look like the double blueberry popsicles that my mother use to buy my family during my childhood!! The color is so insane, and there is NO filter needed in any picture taken here, because the colors are so vibrant!! After that, we had our little driver take us to a TINY little Mexican restaurant. I personally LOVED the food. I now have a new favorite mexican dish, FLAUTAS!!! YUM! I didn't order it, but I had a bite of Aunt Gracie's... And honestly. I almost died. I crave it almost on a daily basis.
As we were talking to our driver, we had mentioned that we were LDS (aka Mormon), and he had said that they had a sign that we might like to see. That is what led us to see this little monumental slab of granite in the side of the mountain that read, "The First Latter-Day Saints sent to Alaska." It was kind of amazing to see! It is funny that he knew about it, because it was literally on the side of the mountain in the middle of some random neighborhood! It was kind of a neat experience.
Juneau was a gorgeous little town, full of bald eagles (by the way, GREAT shots babe of the eagles. Anyone else agree?), and colored homes! I enjoyed the little town, and hope that one day we can go back!
Skagway was our third stop. I really had a lot of fun at this stop! All of the family did a giant scavenger hunt against each other. The ideas were very creative and put together ahead in time so that we could explore and get to know the city on a personal level. I didn't post all of the pictures of different things, but we definitely had a great time!
Note to all : DO NOT KISS YOUR SPOUSE AFTER TAKING A BITE INTO AN ONION. (This was on the list of things to do.)
Last stop was in Victoria Harbor, Canada. The little town was again, so charming! I was glad that I got to spend the day with my Ken and Terry, my fabulous in-laws. I am so grateful to have such wonderful parents (both mine and Trav's). I wish more than anything that I had the camera with me, but Travis took it. The only picture that we have from Victoria is the last two. I am not sure what the building was, we never got the opportunity to go see it, but I am glad we got at least two pictures from there!!
I loved this trip, and really enjoyed going to the cooler part of Earth! We have been in very humid and hot places, so it was nice to switch things up!
xoxo
