Cambodia

We were able to go to Cambodia for a weekend in late March, early April (2014). Let me get one thing across before you see our pictures... it was a furnace in temperature!!! I am talking 115 degree Fahrenheit, and 100% humidity!! Do you know what that feels like? Well let me tell you. It is like walking into a sauna and not ever feeling like you can leave for 3 days. Hiking ancient temples, in a sauna. You can't drink enough water to keep you hydrated because you sweat it all off in a matter of minutes! (I'm not dramatic at all...) Now that you have that lovely image in your head, lets talk about what actually was one of the most incredible experiences we've had. We landed in Siem Reap and were excited to start our next day exploring the historic and ancient ruins of some Buddhist temples. It is the largest and oldest ancient temple made for religious purposes. They were built sometime in 1600 AD. They were absolutely insane. Beyongd amazing!

Every stone had a carving on it, in which detailed stories of ancient times.

These are only a few of the 2000 pictures we took... Although we took a lot of pictures, they do not show how unbelievably breath-taking these temples were. They were amazing. Now day 2 was really fun! We were able to go to a water town just outside of Siem Reap. It is literally a town, on water! There were homes, a grocery store, gas station, schools, etc... All floating on a giant, brown muddy lake.

While we were out on the lake, we were able buy some rice for the local school. We were told that these were kids that had no families and the school was some what of an orphanage. The guide was very good at using his words to persuade us...and we aren't exactly sure if they were orphans, but we felt like buying them lunch wouldn't do any harm! So we bought 50 pounds of rice for the kids and were able to deliver it to them and play with the kids for a little! There were little babies there too... It was really sad. The kids flocked us and were kissing our hands and holding onto us. It was heart breaking honestly. They have so little. We were able to visit another school where the kids have to swim to school every day! That was crazy to hear. I feel grateful for having so much as a child. I had a bus pick me up for years, and never thought that there were children who never got the same luxuries as I did.

We feel like this trip, again, taught us so much. We. Are. SO. Blessed. We are so grateful for the smallest of things. Living in China has opened my eyes up a lot , and traveling to other countries has made me realize how fortunate we are. We loved our trip to Cambodia!! Now this video below is just for laughs and giggles:) If you ever see a little shop to let your feet get "cleaned" by fish, DO IT!!!! It tickles and will create giggles that are contagious!
